Nyima Jadama

Nyima Jadama is a Gambian television presenter and advocate with over a decade of experience in journalism, media competence and community empowerment. Driven by her commitment to the empowerment of marginalised communities, especially women, Nyima hosts Nyima's Bantaba and the Unfiltered Podcast on Alex Berlin Offener Kanal, where she focuses on migration, integration and women's empowerment. She uses her platform to amplify underrepresented voices and promote social change. Nyima also founded the Bantaba Academy, which provides media literacy training for migrants and refugees in Berlin. She has an extensive background in project management and social work, focusing on migration and media development. She currently works as content lead for ‘r0g agency for critical transformation’ and as a part-time freelance language and cultural mediator, supporting refugees in the region. Nyima Jadama was the first refugee advisor to accompany the German delegation to the UNHCR High-Level Official Meeting (HLO) in Geneva in 2021. 

Motivation for Joining the RAB

Nyima joined the German Refugee Advisory Board to ensure that the voices and lived experiences of refugees are meaningfully included in decision-making processes that shape asylum, integration and migration policies. As a media professional and advocate, she believes in promoting inclusive policies that empower displaced people, promote their rights and increase their participation in society. Through the Refugee Advisory Board, she wishes to contribute to shaping policies that reflect the realities and needs of refugees in Germany and beyond.
