Ahmad Hawarnah
Ahmad has Palestinian roots and holds refugee status in Syria. In 2015, he came to Germany as an unaccompanied minor at the age of 15. Since 2023, he has taken pride in being a German citizen. Ahmad’s personal journey has profoundly shaped his understanding of displacement, belonging and participation in society.
Having firsthand experience with the challenges of integration, he became actively involved in civic and political engagement. Through volunteer work and positions in various institutions—including NGOs, integration committees and as a translator and consultant—he has gained extensive experience in refugee rights, communication and negotiation processes. His academic background in Business Informatics complements this by providing a deeper understanding of how economics and technology shape social structures.
Ahmad served for three years as the CFO of the NGO “Cola Taxi Okay” and, since 2020, he has been a member of the Integration Committee in Karlsruhe, where he contributes to local integration policies. Ahmad also founded “Migrants for Karlsruhe”, a political collective that advocates for migrant rights and visibility.
Motivation for Joining the RAB
Ahmad’s motivation for joining the Refugee Advisory Board Germany stems from his guiding principle of ensuring empowerment and participation. He believes that those most affected by political decisions must have a voice in shaping them.
