RAB Germany at R-Space 2025: Advancing Meaningful Refugee Participation
On 17 December 2025, three members of the Refugee Advisory Board Germany (RAB Germany) actively contributed to R-Space 2025 in Geneva, held alongside the Global Refugee Forum (GRF) Progress Review.
RAB Germany co-organised and delivered the session “Meaningful Refugee Participation Under Pressure: Models, Accountability and Redefining Impact”, together with Refugee Advisory Boards from the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The session brought together refugee leaders from Europe, the United States and Latin America to share concrete models of refugee-led participation that influence policy, programming and GRF follow-up.
Zohra Wandaa contributed as a panellist, Nyima Jadama moderated the discussion and Sengül Celik supported the joint preparation and coordination of the session. The discussion took place against a backdrop of shrinking humanitarian funding and increasing anti-refugee rhetoric, highlighting that refugee-led leadership is not optional but essential.
The session marked the first joint R-Space event delivered collectively by five Refugee Advisory Boards, strengthening international collaboration and reinforcing the role of refugee-led structures in shaping accountable and impactful refugee responses.
