RAB Germany at Policy Dialogue on the Reconstruction of Gaza
A representative of the Refugee Advisory Board Germany (RAB Germany) participated in a policy dialogue on the reconstruction of Gaza, held from 15–17 December 2025 at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in Berlin. The event brought together stakeholders from government, diplomacy, civil society, international organisations and the private sector.
RAB Germany was represented by Ahmad Hawarnah, who engaged in panel discussions, plenary sessions and interactive exchanges. The dialogue addressed the political, humanitarian and economic dimensions of rebuilding Gaza, highlighting both immediate needs and long-term recovery challenges.
Discussions underscored a shared commitment to reconstruction efforts, alongside key principles such as maintaining a strong Palestinian perspective and avoiding displacement. Participants also emphasised the importance of a stable ceasefire and long-term political solutions. At the same time, questions around governance, coordination and responsibility for implementation remained central.
The event further addressed urgent humanitarian needs, including access to water, healthcare, shelter and infrastructure, while stressing the importance of transitioning from emergency assistance to sustainable recovery. RAB Germany’s participation contributed valuable perspectives to current policy debates and international coordination efforts, while also creating opportunities for exchange and strengthening connections with a wide range of stakeholders engaged in reconstruction and recovery processes.
