RAB Germany at 2025 Resettlement and Complementary Pathways Conference

In December 2025, members of the RAB Germany participated in the Conference on Resettlement, Humanitarian Admission, and Complementary Pathways in Refugee Protection 2025, organised by UNHCR, Caritas Germany and Diakonie Deutschland. The two-day expert conference brought together a wide range of stakeholders to discuss current challenges and future directions in refugee protection.

RAB Germany was represented by Şengül Çelik, Zohra Wandaa, Maarit Thiem (Head of the Board’s Secretariat) and Ahmad Hawarnah. They engaged in the main programme as well as specialised forums, including discussions on competency-based pathways for refugee labour mobility and on future admission models led by municipalities and federal states.

The conference offered a dynamic and inclusive space, bringing together governmental and civil society perspectives and ensuring strong representation of participants with lived refugee experience. On the second day, RAB Germany hosted an information stand as part of the interactive thematic tour, where it presented its work and engaged directly with participants, generating lively exchange and strong interest.

In addition, RAB Germany established valuable connections with key stakeholders, including the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, the Embassy of Canada in Germany and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. These interactions opened new opportunities for collaboration and further strengthened RAB Germany’s visibility within the refugee protection landscape.
