From Dialogue to Impact: RAB Germany at “Ein Jahr Neuanfang: Perspektiven für Syriens Übergangsprozess”
Shaden Sabouni, member of the Refugee Advisory Board Germany (RAB Germany) participated in the dialogue event “Ein Jahr Neuanfang: Perspektiven für Syriens Übergangsprozess” (One year of ‘A New Beginning for Syria’: Perspectives on Syria’s transition process), held on 12 December 2025 at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in Bonn. The event was organised under the “A New Beginning for Syria” platform and brought together key stakeholders to reflect on pathways for Syria’s transition.
Shaden contributed to the discussions alongside Parliamentary State Secretary Reem Alabali Radovan (BMZ) and Parliamentary State Secretary Natalie Pawlik, German Federal Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration. The forum brought together members of the Syrian diaspora, civil society actors and institutional partners to exchange perspectives on how diaspora communities can support sustainable reconstruction efforts in Syria.
Throughout the event, discussions focused on the role of diaspora engagement in shaping inclusive and long-term recovery processes. RAB Germany highlighted the importance of meaningful participation of refugee and diaspora communities in policy development, emphasising their role in bridging local realities and international decision-making.
RAB Germany’s participation in this dialogue reaffirmed its commitment to amplifying refugee voices in high-level policy spaces and contributing to collaborative approaches towards shaping Syria’s future.
