Reflecting on Belonging, Displacement and Inclusion

Zohra Wandaa represented the Refugee Advisory Board Germany (RAB Germany) at the 10th Anniversary Summer Reception of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) Germany, held in the garden of the Stiftung Exilmuseum Berlin. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on displacement, exile and belonging, bringing diverse perspectives and lived experiences into a shared space for dialogue.

The reception marked ten years of IRC Germany’s work and offered an occasion to engage with questions of inclusion and the experiences of people affected by displacement. We were also pleased to see RAB Germany member Majdi Laktinah attending in his professional capacity with IRC Germany, highlighting the different ways in which Board members contribute to refugee-related work.

Events such as this create opportunities to exchange perspectives across organisations and professional backgrounds. They also offer space to reflect on how experiences of displacement and exile shape people’s sense of belonging and how inclusive societies can recognise and value these experiences.
